I quadri del Luigi Perrella hanno il sapore della pittura: nè buona nè bella ma pulcrum, bellezza... luce restando materia.
Invece di introdurre sul mondo spalanca una finestra sull'interno, sulla coscienza, sul cuore… fa finta di nominare e ricapitolare il mondo e le cose ma in realtà registra le variazioni della tenera passione di un uomo che, dovendo costruire il mondo come ingegnere costruisce in realtà il suo castello di sabbia all'interno della coscienza e ci racconta come, nel suo cuore, legge il mondo e interpreta la vita con la passione dell'artista dinnanzi al colore.
Viene restituita la primarietà al soggetto, cioè all'artista; l'artista che si pone dinnanzi alla pittura con le sue cadute, con le sue tensioni, con i suoi voli, con i suoi precipizi, con i suoi errori... finalmente una pittura che sia pittura.
